What should I expect during my first session?
When you come in for your first session we will get to know each other and establish some treatment goals. You can expect to enter a warm welcoming environment that is free of judgment.
Is what we discuss kept private?
Yes! What you discuss in session as well as your records are kept confidential in accordance with HIPPA laws. Substance abuse records have additional protection under federal regulation 42 CFR part 2. Unless you give your written permission we can't even confirm or deny that you are a client!
The only exceptions to confidentiality are if we become aware you have intent to harm yourself, someone else, situations involving child abuse or neglect, and elder abuse or neglect. We are required by mandated reporting laws to report those situations to the proper authorities.

We use these methods with are supported by research to help ensure you receive the most effective therapy to reach your goals.
How long does each therapy session take?
Typically psychotherapy sessions are 50 minutes. Sometimes, we may meet for 90 minutes for BrainSpotting or EMDR sessions when needed. We also offer BrainSpotting personal intensives which are extended sessions.
How long do I have to be in therapy?
The amount of time each client stays in therapy varies. Many clients experience results in as few as six sessions. Some clients start attending session weekly then transition to biweekly, then monthly. Other clients continue to attend therapy on regular basis as part of their self-care routine or recovery program. We will work together to make a dynamic treatment plan that makes sense for you.
